When spending (expenditures) is higher than income (revenue), thereby causing an unprofitable period for someone. This is also known as a “net loss”.
In finance, there are several types of loses:
- Exchange rate loss: loss derived from exchanging from one currency to another
- Capital loses: loss derived from selling a financial asset at a lower price than it was initially bought.
- Exploitation loss: lost derived from the company´s principal and normal activity
- Extraordinary loss: it is an unusual loss and it is not related to the company´s principal and normal activity
