Also known as an annual general meeting (AGM) or annual meeting. It is a meeting that is mandatory by law for publicly traded companies to inform shareholders, partners and sometimes potential investors about the company and to make decisions.

The shareholders, or authorised delegated director in their absence, are brought together in order to:

  • Pass the statutes the company will follow,
  • Define the basic and strategic objectives,
  • Name, vote on and/or change the board of directors and give them their responsibilities,
  • Present the official accounting statements and establish the upcoming budgets,
  • Aprove capital increases or decreases and, sometimes, most importantly,
  • Establish the distribution of dividends.
